About me
Hello!!! I am a fourth-year Ph.D. scholar in the Cancer Biology Lab, Department of Bioscience and Bioengineering, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Guwahati under the supervision of Prof. Ajaikumar B. Kunnumakkara. My primary interest lies in exploring the mechanistic cues of tumor pathophysiology in the early stage of transformation. I believe that cancer cells are both static and dynamic in the temporal planes, and intervening at the early stage will help circumvent the disease. The discovery of microRNAs has brought a paradigm shift in biological research, making it possible for us to focus on the molecular aspects of regulation in disease etiology. My research goals are to develop novel site-specific and effective treatment regimens using non-coding RNAs.
I previously interned at the CSIR-Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology (CCMB), India, centered around studying the mechanism of initiation and progression of colorectal cancer by using transgenic murine models. I was also a part of the team to understand the effect of DNA damaging drugs on anomalous EMT activation in the early stage of drug treatment, leading to drug resistance. The other projects I had worked on focused on the suppression of breast and colon cancer autochthonous models by using RNA interference and Nanotechnology. After completing my graduation, I joined CCMB as a project trainee to develop and validate the biomarkers for different sub-types (benign, borderline, fibro adenocarcinoma, malignant) of the phyllode tumors using global proteomic analysis, IHCs, and IFs. Apart from this project, I was also working on validating plausible microRNAs for breast cancer diagnosis.
